Pessaries for incontinence and prolapse
Urethra Pessary
The urethra pessary consists of flexible silicone with a steel spring filling for stability.
The pessary is mainly used in patients with stress incontinence possibly combined with descensus and intact pelvic floor. The pessary may prevent the development of further stress incontinence by the thickening of the pessary which supports the transition between bladder and urethra, controlling the involuntary loss of urine.
It can also have a positive effect on urge or a mixture of stress and urge incontinence.
Urethra bowl pessary
The urethra bowl pessary consists of flexible silicone. The pessary is mainly used in patients with stress incontinence possibly combined with descensus and an intact pelvic floor. The pessary may prevent the development of further stress incontinence by the thickening of the pessary which supports the transition between bladder and urethra.
Ring pessary
The ring pessary consists of flexible silicone comfortable for the patient with a specific steel spring filling, which keeps it;s shape. It is flexible and can be easily changed by the patient. The circumference of the ring is relatively thin. Preferably used to treat mild cases of incontinence and/or prolapse. An intact pelvic floor ( is required for this pessary. In addition, it can prevent the development of a stress incontinence by its sub urethral supporting effect.
